Green challenge #4

Green challenge #4: Use the color green in a recipe

This was a hard one for me!! I tried to make it as green as I dared! I made spinach and chicken enchiladas. It actually tasted really good :) Our 8 year old loved them... but our 6 year old picky eater would only take one bite because "It has that yucky green stuff in it"... oh well, what can you do?!

The filling is just chicken, sour cream, cheese, spinach, rice, mushrooms, green chillies and a little bit of taco seasoning.
The green sauce is spinach and green chillies that I creamed in a blender with sour cream and cream of chicken soup... yummy :)

my birthday present

So in an earlier post about my birthday I said I had gotten a drapery rod as a gift :) This is what I had in mind for it:

I saw it in a magazine and knew I wanted to do this in my house. Sometimes I feel like the scrapbook pages I make just go into albums and never see the light of day again... so this way I can display my favorites for a while. I love the way it turned out.

green roses

I made this sweet little frame with green roses for the Color My World challenge # 3: use green in an unusual way. I don't know how unusual this is, but I love how it turned out!

I already want to make a series of 3 for one of my girls rooms- its so sweet and feminine.

Supplies:
about 20 silk roses (I got mine from the dollar store in bunches of 4 or 5- very cheap!)
a glue gun and about 3 sticks of glue.
any frame you have- the opening of this one is 8x10, so if you do a bigger frame you'll need more roses.
a piece of 8x10 cardboard.
I punched holes in the cardboard in even rows. I just eyed it, but you could measure :) I did
4 holes across, 5 down.
remove roses from the stems. Pipe hot glue around the base of the rose, underneath. Pop the rose into a hole and repeat 19 times :) then place the cardboard into the frame, and voila! Super cute, super easy- and for me, super cheap! All I bought was the roses- I had everything else on hand.

the brown truck

Yesterday a man in a brown truck came to my house. I was so happy to see him! He left me with this:

Yayy, I just LOVE getting packages from the UPS :) Maybe thats why I like to order scrapbooking supplies online (or maybe its so I don't have to haul a squirmy 1 year old along to a store!)... I love the thrill of waiting for my box to come and then when it does its like Christmas morning as I tear into the box and drool over the contents!
This box contained lots of paper (yayy, my favorite!), and some orange flowers that will be used as part of a decorating project for Tylias new bedroom. Yes, that will be in a post soon :)
OK, goodbye for now as I disappear into my little scrapbooking world for a few hours!

baby Carly

These are some of the birth announcements I made for this beautiful little girl... I finally got to make girly announcements- seems like all I've made are boy ones lately!

Photo's taken by Sharla Stenersen photography. Gorgeous photo's make such a difference :)

I'm so jealous of that hair!! My 16 month old princess still doesn't have as much hair as
this baby girl!

For this child I prayed... 1 Samuel 1:27
I just love this bible verse for birth announcements :)

Happy birthday...

.....to ME!

I'm not usually one to celebrate my own birthday-its a lot more fun to celebrate someone elses!
But I have to admit it makes me feel loved when my family makes the effort to make it a special day:)

Last night Justin took me to one of our favorite restaurants- the Melting Pot. We had such a good time- its the perfect place to just take your time and really relax as you eat:) And the fondue is so yummy, too!

And then he took me shopping and spoiled me....this is for a future project that I've been wanting to try for a while now. That'll be another post :)

And I picked out this gorgeous bedding... I love it! But now I want to paint my bedroom walls! I'm trying to decide between a dusty aqua or a deep cream...what do you think?

And then tonight I'm going to have dinner with more family.... I have so much to be thankful for!!
Count your blessings, name them one by one. Count your many blessings, See what God hath done!
Yes, I have many, many blessings!! Thank You, Lord!

green challenge, week # 2

So the challenge for this week was a craft using the color green... heres mine:

This wasn't the first tooth Tylia lost, but it was the first picture I took of her missing teeth! And I happened to find that tooth in my drawer, so I thought I'd stick it in the little envelope, along with a little journaling :)

Save the date

I've been making lots of photo cards lately- birthday invitations and baby announcements... I also made a set of these save the date cards. They're made in postcard size, which I love! I think it would be neat to do baby announcements as a post card, also- which I made a while ago for a family member. They turned out adorable :)

I think this one was my favorite :)

I'll post some of the other cards I've made soon...
