Yellow challenge #3

The 3rd weekly challenge for the month is to use the color yellow in an unusual way...

I made this for one of the girls teachers. I'll put fresh flowers in it, either red, white or yellow ones. I saw this on a florists blog, and knew I wanted to make one :)

1 cylinder vase
about 50 yellow pencils
glue gun and glue sticks
ribbon

This was another Dollar Store project for me- the pencils, ribbon and vase were all dollar store bargains :) I just glued the pencils around the vase and tied a ribbon around all of them. Simple and easy!

Wishing you all a bright and sunshiny weekend!! Its supposed to be a sunny one here in the Pacific NW- thank you, LORD! We need some sun :) and just in time for me and my sweeties ten year anniversary get-away! Ahhhh, a much needed break, and I plan to enjoy it to the fullest! Even if it IS only one night :)

This is the day that The Lord has made, let us rejoice and be GLAD in it!

A new month....

..... a new color! Its April, and that means its time for a new color for the Color My World challenge, with Karen. And this months color is yellow :)

the first weekly challenge is a collage of my favorite yellow things. Here's mine:

There's nothing like a handful of dandelions from your childs sweaty fist :)
Fresh corn on the cob from the garden... so sweet and juicy!
Freshly squeezed, icy cold lemonade, yummmm!
Yellow purses... I've been wanting one for a couple of years now. Maybe this summer!

Green challenge #4

Green challenge #4: Use the color green in a recipe

This was a hard one for me!! I tried to make it as green as I dared! I made spinach and chicken enchiladas. It actually tasted really good :) Our 8 year old loved them... but our 6 year old picky eater would only take one bite because "It has that yucky green stuff in it"... oh well, what can you do?!

The filling is just chicken, sour cream, cheese, spinach, rice, mushrooms, green chillies and a little bit of taco seasoning.
The green sauce is spinach and green chillies that I creamed in a blender with sour cream and cream of chicken soup... yummy :)

green roses

I made this sweet little frame with green roses for the Color My World challenge # 3: use green in an unusual way. I don't know how unusual this is, but I love how it turned out!

I already want to make a series of 3 for one of my girls rooms- its so sweet and feminine.

Supplies:
about 20 silk roses (I got mine from the dollar store in bunches of 4 or 5- very cheap!)
a glue gun and about 3 sticks of glue.
any frame you have- the opening of this one is 8x10, so if you do a bigger frame you'll need more roses.
a piece of 8x10 cardboard.
I punched holes in the cardboard in even rows. I just eyed it, but you could measure :) I did
4 holes across, 5 down.
remove roses from the stems. Pipe hot glue around the base of the rose, underneath. Pop the rose into a hole and repeat 19 times :) then place the cardboard into the frame, and voila! Super cute, super easy- and for me, super cheap! All I bought was the roses- I had everything else on hand.

green challenge, week # 2

So the challenge for this week was a craft using the color green... heres mine:

This wasn't the first tooth Tylia lost, but it was the first picture I took of her missing teeth! And I happened to find that tooth in my drawer, so I thought I'd stick it in the little envelope, along with a little journaling :)

"pink party"

I finally started Brielles baby album, its this adorable little 9x9 album... I do an album for each of my girls- their first two baby years. I figure since Brielle is a year old now, its about time to start hers! Yes, I'm a year behind!

This is, of course, her first birthday party. I thought since it was a pink party it would be perfect for this weeks pink craft project for the color my world challenge.

I used lots of different pink papers, with some black and white mixed in. One of my favorites to use lately is the Co'ordinations cardstock. I love to emboss and then distress it- fun, fun!!

My favorites in pink

Color my world challenge for the month of February #1: A collage of my favorite pink things :)

So the color of the month is pink! Yay, we love pink in this house- LOTS and lots of pink.. my poor, poor husband!

Pink nail polish, all shades and all levels of sparklyness :)

My absolute favorite flavor of ice cream is pink peppermint candy... I still remember where I was the first time I had it- Kimballs in NH, when I was about 6 or so... I loved it! still do to this day :)

pink noses and cheeks on a cold day, just makes you want to kiss them!

little girls in pink tutu's

pink painted furniture.. you would think with three girls I would have at least ONE piece of furniture thats painted pink. But I don't... hmmm, I found this picture of a pink bunk bed. It looks just like the girls bunk bed, so I've decided its time we have some pink furniture in this house! I can just imagine the look on Justins face when I tell him my next project, ha ha!

Hope you all have a great- and colorful- week :)

white pizza... mmmm

Color challenge, week # 4: Make a recipe using the color white:

I made white pizza last night... it was sooo good :)
I cheated and used pre-made dough (Winco's dough is really good) and sauce from a jar. I added cheese and butter to the sauce though. Easy and yummy!

toppings:
cheese, chicken, onions, mushrooms and red peppers and fresh basil leaves for a little color :)

I'm looking forward to next months color- pink :) with three girls we never have a shortage of the color pink in our house... just as my poor husband!

a perfect pear...

WEEK # 3: Use white in an unusual way-

So this is my try at using white in an unusual way... check out Karens blog if you're curious or want to join in the color my world challenge :) This week was kind of hard for me!

I saw this idea on a blog somewhere (can't remember where!) and thought it would turn out super cute... I was a little disappointed in my result! But... I thought I'd post it anyways :)

project white

whew, I managed to finish my white craft project in time! I've had a super busy week- I knew what I wanted to make... I just had to find the time to DO it! I finished it tonight, yay :) I made it for Tylia's bedroom... I know its not ALL white, but I tried! the frame is about 11x14 I think. I originally wanted to make a really large one, and still might someday.

I was inspired by this gorgeous fabric butterfly frame on Sew Eco blog. I just love blog surfing for fun and cool decorating projects :)
