last minute teachers gift

So amid all the hustle and bustle of the end of the day, I realized I had forgotten to get a gift for Paiges teacher. I had a moment of panic, since it was after 9, the girls were in bed and I was not in the mood to run to the store. Their last day of school is tomorrow, so it has to be brought in the morning. I remembered something I had seen on a blog- delightfulorder- and inspiration hit!

I got out my trusty cricut and cut an A (for her teachers name) out of vinyl and stuck it on a mug that was part of another gift. Its a quickie, but it turned out OK :) And the best part- I didn't have to drag myself to the store after a long day!

MERRY CHRISTMAS from our family to yours

Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth peace, good will toward men. Luke 2:14

I've been so neglectful

My apologies... I've been so neglectful of my little blog! I can't believe how much time has gone by since I last posted on here! I have no excuses, but I do have a few pictures of what I've been up to!

I made a couple of birth announcements- here is the one I made for my adorable, chubby little nephew:

And here are a few I made for Baby Sadie... what a cutie pie!

I've also had about a dozen Christmas card orders, but I won't post them on here yet :)
I also had a table in the Artisan fair this year- well half a table... that was a LOT of fun!!
And of course there is the usual Christmas craziness... gifts to buy, house to decorate, cookies to bake, parties to attend.... but I LOVE it all!!
Praying all of you will have a blessed Christmas and a JOYFUL new year!!
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

I'm in paper heaven!

I've been doing some scrapbooking lately, after taking a few months off... Ahhh, its good to be back :)

These pics are from our family vacation over a year ago... the girls first time on a plane. The title is a play on the french phrase for 'I love you' :)

Its based on this weeks sketch from pencillines.com

I liked how this one turned out... I used my cricut to cut out the cool chandelier, owl and the title.

The chandelier is cut from Core'dination cardstock and distressed a whole bunch to make it look old and like its from a haunted house :) fun!

Just some more fun details- glitter, stamping and all that good stuff...
I'm hoping to spend the rest of the week, and maybe even the weekend lost in my little scrapbooking world!

I had the privilege to design the birth announcements for my newest niece- what a precious little cutie! She has the most adorable chubby cheeks :)

May God always bless you and keep you, little Tegan!

I made an elegant birthday card today....

I used this weeks sketch from 2s4y:

...And heres my take on it :)

I love the black damask paper from My Minds Eye... its gorgeous! And feels even better with its velvety flocking :)

a brown paper bag

Well, I'm back to my little blog... hopefully more often than lately!

I made this card, and added a little 'prettiness' to a plain, brown paper bag for a birthday present.

Happy Wednesday, and I'll be back soon :)

My summer update

Whew, it seems like every summer just gets busier and more crazy every year! We have three more weeks till school starts and I'm actually looking forward to it.... even if it means getting up early :)

We went to the fair this year, and the girls had so much fun! We were so lucky to get free bracelets (for the rides) and they were able to go on all of the rides... what fun!

I also made these baby girl birth announcements recently. I loved how girly they turned out... these are just a few of the ones I made.

We'll see if I can check back in before school starts....

I was wrong

Well, I was wrong- Summer is an even worse time to blog in my household! I've been incredibly busy with out of town family visiting, birthday parties, my hubby working away from home, long summer days by the pool... I'm really hoping things settle down for a little while before school starts. But most likely this will be the last time I blog until mid September.

I have been making some photo cards in my few spare minutes... here are some:

I hope all of you have a wonderful summer! See you in the fall ;)

wedding flowers for James & Heidi

Me and my sister Katie did the bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres for a wedding this weekend. It was probably the easiest wedding we've ever done since we didn't do any other arrangements. James is my husbands uncle, and his new wife, Heidi, was the most beautiful bride I've seen in a long time!

there were 2 bridesmaids bouquets and 2 junior bridesmaids bouquets

I hope everyone enjoyed their fourth of July- we sure did!! Me and my sisters threw my mom a birthday party yesterday. We tried to surprise her, but she was too smart for us :) Happy birthday anyways, mom! I'm sure there will be pictures of the party soon, either on here or Sharlas blog :)

Schools out for the summer (almost)

Its that time of year...

The end of the school year! I scrapbooked this apple shaped book for Paiges kindergarten teacher. We loved her and Paige will miss her next year. We wanted to show our appreciation with this cute little album.

I need to tie some matching ribbon around the ring to finish it off

"Frum Paige"- I thought that was too cute to correct her :)

I can't wait to sleep in this summer- Ahhh, lazy warm days by the pool, barbecue dinners, no schedule to stick to- I love summer time :)
We have just one more day of school- we're counting the hours! Happy Summer everyone :)

wedding flowers for Kelly and Hans

Wow, I haven't updated my blog in way too long! We've been busy, and had computer issues.
Hopefully with a fixed computer and summer vacation starting at the end of this week I'll be a better blogger :)

This past weekend my sister and I had the honor of doing wedding flowers for a sweet bride and her new husband. We were thrilled with the colors the bride chose- pink and orange.

One of the bouquets. We used ranunculas, roses, dahlias, poms, berries and hydrangeas.

The grooms boutonniere was an orange ranuncula, with a tiny sprig of hydrangea... very simple

These were the little mini mothers bouquets we made instead of corsages. They were so sweet :)

We strung crystals from fishing line and attached them to the centerpieces for a sparkly touch

For the reception we made two different kinds of centerpieces, one tall and one low. There
were 30 altogether!

This was a fun wedding to do!

Yellow challenge #3

The 3rd weekly challenge for the month is to use the color yellow in an unusual way...

I made this for one of the girls teachers. I'll put fresh flowers in it, either red, white or yellow ones. I saw this on a florists blog, and knew I wanted to make one :)

1 cylinder vase
about 50 yellow pencils
glue gun and glue sticks
ribbon

This was another Dollar Store project for me- the pencils, ribbon and vase were all dollar store bargains :) I just glued the pencils around the vase and tied a ribbon around all of them. Simple and easy!

Sunshiny yellow

Color my world challenge #2: make a craft using yellow

Here is my craft, a cheery, bright card- I love the color combo :)

Wishing you all a bright and sunshiny weekend!! Its supposed to be a sunny one here in the Pacific NW- thank you, LORD! We need some sun :) and just in time for me and my sweeties ten year anniversary get-away! Ahhhh, a much needed break, and I plan to enjoy it to the fullest! Even if it IS only one night :)

This is the day that The Lord has made, let us rejoice and be GLAD in it!

STAR of the week!!

Paige is the star of the week in her Kindergarten class... she's so proud! Part of her privileges as star of the week includes making a poster about herself and sharing it with her class. We had a lot of fun making this one together. She chose everything on it, from the pictures to the colors :) I think I have a future scrapbooker!

She also gets to be the head of the line every day this week, and lead the class in the pledge of allegience... she sure feels special :)

I love watching her blossom at school- she's had so much fun learning and meeting new people. Paige used to be our shy girl, but not any more!

P.S. Paige wanted me to add that she gets to be the teachers special helper this week, too :)

A new month....

..... a new color! Its April, and that means its time for a new color for the Color My World challenge, with Karen. And this months color is yellow :)

the first weekly challenge is a collage of my favorite yellow things. Here's mine:

There's nothing like a handful of dandelions from your childs sweaty fist :)
Fresh corn on the cob from the garden... so sweet and juicy!
Freshly squeezed, icy cold lemonade, yummmm!
Yellow purses... I've been wanting one for a couple of years now. Maybe this summer!

Green challenge #4

Green challenge #4: Use the color green in a recipe

This was a hard one for me!! I tried to make it as green as I dared! I made spinach and chicken enchiladas. It actually tasted really good :) Our 8 year old loved them... but our 6 year old picky eater would only take one bite because "It has that yucky green stuff in it"... oh well, what can you do?!

The filling is just chicken, sour cream, cheese, spinach, rice, mushrooms, green chillies and a little bit of taco seasoning.
The green sauce is spinach and green chillies that I creamed in a blender with sour cream and cream of chicken soup... yummy :)

my birthday present

So in an earlier post about my birthday I said I had gotten a drapery rod as a gift :) This is what I had in mind for it:

I saw it in a magazine and knew I wanted to do this in my house. Sometimes I feel like the scrapbook pages I make just go into albums and never see the light of day again... so this way I can display my favorites for a while. I love the way it turned out.
